I Visions of Pan African Consciousness I

An exhibition that depicts the inter-relationship between Kehinde's political philosophy and his art.

The culture of African people is rich and diverse. My work as a visual artist is an effort to reflect our culture. My background as an African American studies instructor, a community activist and a visual artist is reflected in my work. The use of bold color designs and patterns are keys elements in Pan African Expression. I have chosen a number of themes in my work from the rich empire of West Africa to Classical Ethiopia. I have also tried to honor the African Liberation Movement. The dominant rhythm is an essential element in our social and cultural worldview. I have tried to celebrate, honor, and reflect through the visual arts of painting, drawing and printmaking the magnificent culture of the Pan African world. The culture of African people is the oldest human experience and at the same time the most contemporary.
